Tribute authors now have the ability to save attachments with a memorial, allowing the addition of Web friendly files for download by visitors. For example, a PDF document containing the funeral program would make an ideal attachment for visitors to browse. We restrict attachment content to Web friendly formats such as PDF, graphics, plain text articles, PowerPoint Presentations and Rich Text Documents. The quantity of attachments permitted is dependent on the memorial package you have selected. Suggested uses for this feature include attaching newspaper articles, service programs, PowerPoint slide-shows containing multi-media, hand written letters or various other noteworthy documents.

Video is fast becoming a dominant media online and we have just extended this technology to our visitors of memorial tributes. This month we announced the introduction of a Sympathy Video Posting feature, where visitors can post a video message containing their condolences in memory of the deceased. Users simply provide basic details regarding their video, select the video file saved from a web-cam recording and upload. Our staff review all content uploaded, so it must be appropriate and conform to our conditions. When approved, the video will be published live on the memorial site for visitors to view and comment. We suggest signing up today for a 2 week free trial to explore our quickly expanding features for online memorial packages.

Our new Quick Response (QR) 2D Barcode feature enables a link to your tribute to be encoded in a special bar code graphic. Anyone with a smart phone (i.e. iPhone, Android, Blackberry) with QR Code reading software will be able to scan this 2D barcode and have their device automatically open the linked online memorial, making access to the memorial from the gravesite very simple and easy. This feature is standard with all memorial packages offered. The graphic can be printed on funeral programs to allow easy access to the online tribute before and after the memorial service or etched into a stone plate that can be permanently attached to the tombstone or grave, to enable access to the online memorial from the gravesite years into the future.

Top 10 Memorial Ideas for Remembering a Loved One

Creating a memorial for a loved one helps many people deal with grief in an active manner. Here are 10 ideas for an uplifting tribute to the precious life of the one lost.

1. Plant a tree
A long living, shade tree will ensure that your memorial will provide joy for many years. A dedication plaque can be placed near the tree. The tree can be planted on private property, or search the internet for local programs that will plant your memorial tree in a public place.

2. Get a park bench
The bench can be at a park, sidewalk, or other public area. An inscription on the back of the seat lists the name of the person to whom the memorial is dedicated.

3. Name a star
Many websites offer the chance to name a star in the sky after a loved one. You should get a certificate showing where the star is located and the name.

4. Create a charity
Create a charity in their name to fund whatever their passion or mission was in life.

5. Make a memorial webpage
This is an easy way to post photos and memories. Create it to allow others to comment and share memories.

6. Plan a reunion
If your family doesn't already have a reunion, plan one in honor of the deceased. Try to make it an annual event.

7. Make a donation
Make a donation in your loved one's name.

8. Write a book
Include stories, photos and other mementos. Have others also contribute stories about the loved one. Self publishing websites will help you get your book created.

9. Engrave a memorial stone
A beautiful stone engraved with your loved one's name is a steadfast tribute to add to your landscaping.

10. Paint a mural
Hire an artist to paint a mural on a wall inside your house subtly commemorating colors, landscapes or images the deceased admired.

The Eternal Portal tributes Steve Irwin (The Crocodile Hunter) with Online Memorial
by Nathan Martyn

Steve Irwin, better known as The Crocodile Hunter to the world, was tragically killed in waters near Batt Reef, Queensland Australia whilst filming an underwater documentary. Aged only 44 and in the peak of this career, the sudden death has left a nation in mourning. His compassion and active involvement in conservation saw him raise to fame in America with his unique Australian language and personality. He leaves behind American-born wife Terri and two beautiful children Bindi and Robert who now live in Australia. His memory will be carried on by "Australia Zoo" in Queensland, owned and operated by this family.
Steve always referred to himself as a Wildlife Warrior and later formed the conservation group "Wildlife Warriors Worldwide". Using his own funds from films and sponsorship deals, the organization purchased various wildlife rich areas across the world (America, Fiji, Australia). Given the vast amount of habitat destroyed each year, Steve's only goal was to ensure animals always had a home.
It seems too tragic for belief. The Crocodile Hunter is a story of a humble man with a passion for life and the environment, who became perhaps the most well known Australian in the world. May he be remembered for not only his high energy personality, but also his amazing ecological achievements.
The Eternal Portal has created an online memorial website to continue the legacy of Steve Irwin which has seen volumes of sympathy messages. They welcome everybody to leave their thoughts of Steve at the Online Memorial Tribute to Steve Irwin (The Crocodile Hunter)
